A new FR GM NTS - design ; made and designed in Belgium !
A wooden miniature canyon as a neverseen planter for your XS-cacti.
Tiny Canyon explores how landscapes are formed by hidden physical processes; and how they relate to geometry and mathematics.
Landscapes are the resultant of (-amongst others-) erosion and geology, and can thus be described as a formula; as a function of chance and time. Each landscape thus carries within itself the possibility of a multitude of other landscapes.
For this work, the conceptual idea of a canyon is simulated through a custom-made computer algorithm, driven only by a set of randomized inputs.
This shape is then brought to physical form in a hand-made superpositon of plywood layers. The geometry itself is cut by a robotic CNC-router.
The different pieces are all unique, and together form one continuous valley. Every new series of "Tiny Canyon's" can be made unique again.
The first prototype was created at and with support of Fablabfactory Aalst.
The series was produced at and with support of Fablab Imal.
